As Youth Sports Return…High School Sports…Begin Process For Return …July 6

NHCSAA and Local Youth Sports
Daily Blog..Tuesday..June 30 2020 As Youth Sports Return To Field …High School Sports.. Begin The Process For Return July 6
It’s been a while since I have updated on the return of youth and high school sports. With information changing daily from the NCHSAA ..( North Carolina High School Athletic Association) and area school districts, it’s been difficult. The NCHSAA ended the state dead period on June 15. Before teams can return to the field or court the local school district has to approve a date and safe plan for return.
Many youth sports leagues made the decision to cancel the spring season because of the COVID- 19 Pandemic uncertainties. The Topsail Girls Softball league decided to wait until the fall league season, hopefully beginning a little earlier in August. The Dixon Youth Baseball/Softball league has been practicing for a few weeks and will soon begin the season. Several area travel baseball and softball teams have returned to tournament play. All of the sports look a lot different as they are practicing social distancing. In the Greenville NC Little League program, only one parent per player can attend the game. The league is live streaming every game played to allow the parents, grandparents and community to view the games. It’s great to see the young athletes back on the field.
The high school sports return is a little more complicated because the safety protocols that have to be approved by the school districts. Our area high school baseball summer league baseball plans unfortunately did not workout with the delayed approval. Many players are playing on travel teams this summer. Hopefully on July 6 the return to the summer workout programs is the beginning of a return to the field and court for the fall sports season which officially starts on August 1.
Let’s hope for a return to school and high school sports this fall… whatever form it will be!! … It will be different..I assure you
