Area teams, Trask, Topsail, Pender and Dixon football closed out the year with much success to build on for next fall and the 2023 season.
North Topsail Elementary fifth grader Mason Jones competes year- round in youth basketball, football, and lacrosse. Mason is also an honor student in school.
Shane Mabberley scored his first touchdown at 5 years old. Many years later as a senior for the Topsail football team, Shane is a wide receiver for the Pirates.
Topsail Elementary fourth grader Jensen Moore began his youth sports experience at age 5 with the Topsail Jr Pirate youth football program.
High school athletics are governed by the NCHSAA (North Carolina High School Athletic Association).
The NCHSAA released the revised high school sports schedule for the upcoming school calendar year. The last 5-6 months have been very challenging times for student athletes.

Topsail High rising junior Jacob Holland a baseball and football player for the Pirates met the challenges . Holland has excelled in the classroom, baseball and football field as a student athlete.
The NCHSAA ended the state dead period on June 15. Before teams can return to the field or court the local school district has to approve a date and safe plan for return.
