Dixon Bulldogs Roll Past Southside in Home Opener

“Friday Night Lights” is a very special occasion for high school football teams. The offseason skill development, Spring workouts, Summer workouts and the official start of the season on August 1 and team camp is over. Your home opener for Friday Night Lights is even more special.
The varsity Dixon Bulldogs had that experience on Friday and topped it off with a 48-34 victory over Southside High School. The Bulldogs high powered offense scored early and often on way to victory over the visiting Seahawks. Dixon Senior Quarterback Cory Motes led the way with 247 passing yards with three touchdowns. Running back Bryce Napier surpassed the 104 yards rushing for the game with three the touchdowns. Wide Receiver Tony Bryant finished the game four receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown in the game.
The Bulldog offense has tallied 80 total points in the first two games. Dixon improved to 1-1 on the season. The Bulldogs will travel to Topsail next Friday night.
The Junior Varsity Bulldogs defeated Southside 8-0 on Thursday night and will host Topsail in action next week.
