Dixon Senior Football Standout Corey Motes Signs With Methodist University
In the youth leagues many play sports for fun, yes the way it should be. With that said, Although unknowing as kids, it’s really the beginning of a journey with hopes of playing the sport in college. Recreation to middle school to playing the sport in high school . Without commitment in the classroom and the field or court the journey will end short of the goal of playing in college. You must be a Student Athlete.
Dixon Senior Corey Motes completed that journey and will play football at Methodist University next Fall. Motes started playing tackle football when he was eight years old. Corey in middle and high school mostly played on the defensive side of the ball. In his sophomore year his position was switched to quarterback for the remainder of his high school career. The change worked out well for Motes. He excelled at the quarterback position for the Dixon Bulldogs last season.
Motes helped the Dixon to their first winning season since 2012. Corey finished his high school with impressive stat totals. 2903 Passing Yards…27 touchdowns…264 team passing yards per game and a quarterback rating of 101.8.
Corey was selected for several area awards Including NC Preps.com Week 12 player of the week an 2019 Coastal 8 1A/2A FirstTeam All Conference selection.
Motes is proud of his Dixon team and thanks his teammates and coaches for helping him reach his goals. For now Corey will look forward to graduation and train for Methodist University football.
