Dreams Come True for Topsail Pirate Softball Players
In youth sports it all begins with kids getting involved in sports at a very young age. Even as youngsters, the kids have short term goals. First of all, have fun and look forward to what the snack after practice is for that day? As the kids progress through the youth leagues to middle school as they develop a love for the sport. In softball, as with all sports, the goal the player hopes to reach is to play softball for their high school team. In high school the dream of playing college softball after high school, although reachable, only a small percentage of softball student athletes have the dream become reality. It takes a balance of succeeding in academics as well as softball.
The Topsail Pirate softball program has been one of the top programs in the state over the last 10 years. The Lady Pirates finished the 2019 season with a 20-4 record and ranked as high as 4th in some final season rankings. While the program has certainly had success over the years, the returning roster for the 2020 season has a very impressive team accomplishment. The Topsail Lady Pirate softball team has five current players committed to play Division 1 Softball after high school.
