Female High School Spotlight Athlete “Of the Week”
Pender High School Junior – Linde Cline – Multi-Sport Athlete – Gets It Done in The Classroom – Field and Court
The life of a high school student athlete finding that proper balance and time management to succeed in the classroom and on the field or court. For the multi-sport athlete, it is even more challenging with school sports as well as travel team and showcase tournaments year- round.
Pender High school Junior Linde Cline has found that proper balance as multi- sport student athlete. Cline excels in the classroom as well as on the field and court. Linde competes with Lady Patriots volleyball, basketball, and softball teams at Pender High School.
Cline also competes with Team North Carolina Travel softball team during the high school softball off season. While Linde values and enjoys playing multiple sports, she developed a special passion for the sport of softball. Cline began playing softball at the young age of 3 years old. At the age of 6, Linde began playing travel team softball while continuing to compete with recreational softball.
Linde found her favorite position, catcher at age 8. The passion for the catcher position continued with her travel team, Penderlea Middle School and with the Pender Lady Patriots softball program. Linde also plays multiple positions on the field including Pitcher. A pick off of a baserunner from the catcher position, a big hit, homerun or just helping her team be the best they can be.
Cline, a varsity starter for Pender Lady Patriots softball team her freshman season, helping the team complete a undefeated regular season. As a sophomore, Linde finished the season with a .268 batting average, scoring 10 runs with 11 base hits, 2 doubles and 4 home-runs for the Lady Patriots.
Cline, with a very busy schedule as an athlete, also excels with her academics in the classroom. Linde currently has a 4.32 GPA, a member of the Pender High School Beta Club and inducted into the National Honor Society
