Pender High School Senior – A’tavion Pickett – Experience – Versatility – Athleticism Making a Difference for 2022 Patriots Football Team
One of the factors to success in high school football as you prepare the upcoming football season is how much experience you return from the previous season. The Pender Patriots Football had several talented and experienced players graduate from last season’s 1A East Regional Championship game appearance. With that said, this year’s team returns several talented and experienced players. In high school sports, good or bad, last season does not carry over to the next season. New season, new team, new goals and as a team must form its own identity.
Pender Patriots football team senior A’tavion Pickett’s experience, versatility and athleticism is making a difference for this year’s team on both sides of the ball. On the defensive side of the ball as a sophomore Pickett led the team with 63 tackles. As a junior for the Patriots he led the team defense with 110 tackles. On the offensive side of the ball Pickett’s positions were wide receiver and quarterback for the Patriots.
The 2022 Pender is off to a great start with a 2-0 record on the season. Senior A’tavion Pickett is making a difference as he has some new responsibilities for Patriot offense. Pender head coach, Tom Eanes shared some positive thoughts on senior Pickett. “ A’tavion has been a standout for us at free safety and wide receiver.” said Eanes. Now he has a new challenge, and he is growing and improving greatly. He can make a lot of plays with his athleticism. On the defensive side, he is going to make the tackle if any way possible.” said Eanes “ A’tavion also returns kicks and punts. A throwback to days past. A’tavion is a pleasure to coach.”
