Sydney Hartgrove a Team Leader For Topsail Lady Pirate Softball And Basketball Programs

In life as well as in sports you will face Adversity as a individual and as team. When speaking of Adversity,  your strength is determined not by the Adversity itself, but by how you handle it as a individual or as a team. In our area we have had our share of adversity in the community as well as in athletics over the last two years. When Adversity strikes on the field or court you need a team leader. Topsail Junior Sydney Hartgrove, standout softball and basketball player for the Lady Pirates is a leader for both teams. Sydney leads by example.

Hartgrove just recently made the transition from the basketball court to the softball field, Sidney finished her junior basketball season averaging 14.1 points a game with a 38 percent field goal percentage. On the softball field for the Lady Pirates Hartgrove , as a sophomore finished the 2019 season with a .469 batting average with 14 doubles , three triples and a homerun. Sydney is off to a great start early in her junior season through 4 games. She has .467 batting average including a Grand Slam Homerun.

Hartgrove made her college decision last year during her junior season. Sydney committed and will play softball a the University of Virginia after high school.

Now Hartgrove is hoping to return to the softball field with her teammates this year. The season was suspended until at the earliest April 6 because of the Coronavirus epidemic.  The Topsail Lady Pirate Softball team is fortunate to have Sydney…..She is a leader!
