Topsail  Junior … Shayna Frey … “High School Spotlight Athlete”

It is challenging times for high school student athletes dealing with the adjustments to their lifestyles during the Coronavirus Crisis. Schools are closed as student are adjusting to virtual online learning. On the athletic side with all sports activities suspended, the focus has shifted to what the athletes can do on a individual basis. The coaches are providing individual workout guidance to their teams. One of the more popular quotes to athletes at all levels is “ The one thing you control as a individual is your commitment, attitude and effort” Are you holding yourself accountable to do the right thing?  Topsail High School Junior cheerleader Shayna Frey is one athlete that does the right things. Her great commitment, attitude  and work ethic have been a large part of her success in the classroom and on the field or court.

Shayna got involved in cheerleading at four years old. Frey over the years has participated in other sports including softball,baseball,gymnastics and volleyball but her love is for cheerleading. Shayna is a member of the 2019 NCHSAA 3A State Championship team Topsail High School. Topsail won the Mideastern 3A/4 Conference Championship and competed in the UCA Cheerleading nationals in February.  Frey also competes with the Infinity Allstar Team in Wilmington.

Shayna, A team player is very proud of her teams accomplishments and will do anything to help her team be successful. As a individual, Frey spends her time away from practice working to improve her strength and skills as a cheerleader. Shayna is faithful and unashamed in her faith in “God”and knowing her strength and talent are a gift of  “God”.

Shayna also excels in the classroom as a student athlete. Frey, a dual student also taking classes at Cape Fear Community College has maintained 4.0 GPA. Shayna has plans to attend college as a cheerleader after high school.

For now..Shayna hopes to finish her junior year strong academically…and focus on her senior year as a student and cheerleader. Congrats !! Shayna Frey… Topsail Youth Sports Daily…”High School Spotlight Athlete”
