Topsail Defeats Pender to Improve to 2-0 on Season

In life as well as in sports, goal setting is a huge part of an individual or team in sports accomplishing maximum success in life or on the field or court. That process begins with setting short term goals.
The varsity Topsail Pirate football accomplished goal one on Friday night with a 35-0 win over the Pender Patriots to win the mythical Pender County Championship. Topsail senior quarterback Cody Wallis led the Pirates 12 completions for 236 yards and four touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Gavin Ellis finished the game bringing in four receptions totaling 141 yards and three touchdowns.
Topsail had a balanced attack on the ground and in the air. Junior running back Bernie Burns rushed for 113 yards on 14 carries. Topsail improved to 2-0 on the season.
The Pirates host Dixon High School next Friday night. The junior varsity Topsail Pirates will open the season on Thursday night at Dixon.
