Topsail High School Sophomore – Lillian Austin – Work Ethic and Commitment to Team – A Winning Combination for Lady Pirates Lacrosse

The sport of Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, not only at the high school level, but also in youth recreation and middle school. Travel or Club Team Lacrosse offers the opportunity for young athletes that does not have recreation or middle school lacrosse available to develop in the sport. In fact, many high schools do not have lacrosse programs and many school systems do not offer lacrosse in the middle school grades. Hopefully as the popularity of the sport of lacrosse continues to grow, things will change in the future.

Topsail Lady Pirate lacrosse sophomore, Lillian Austin started in lacrosse at young age and has plenty of experience on the lacrosse field. Not having middle school lacrosse, she benefited from improving her game with Club Team Associations.

Austin started playing youth recreation lacrosse at five years old in New Port Rhode Island. In 2013 her family moved to Hampstead NC. Lillian played three years with the Topsail Youth Lacrosse Association. Austin then moved to Club Team Lacrosse as a member of Team 91 Carolina – Raleigh NC. Lillian currently still plays with Team 91 Carolina.

Lillian, as a freshman at Topsail High school played varsity basketball for the Lady Pirates. As a sophomore she made the decision to shift her focus to Topsail Lady Pirate lacrosse team and pursue her dream of playing lacrosse at the collegiate level. The Topsail Lady Pirates team is having a great season. Topsail is undefeated 11-0 overall and 8-0 Mideastern 3A/4A conference. Austin is contributing to the Lady Pirates success with 70 Shots on Goal and scoring 45 Goals for Topsail. For now, Lillian is focused on helping her team in their pursuit of the conference and state championship.

Austin was recently selected for the Class of 2024 American Select Team to represent North Carolina at the National Tournament to be held in Delaware in July 2022.

Lillian also excels as a student athlete. she currently has a 4.4 GPA. The example of what a student athlete should be.
