As TYSD Media continues with area spotlight features of youth recreation, middle school, and high school athletes, it must be noted that there is no criteria or guidelines in the selection of the features. In fact, many features are written from information or content contributed by coaches or parents. As TYSD Media grows, the articles, content and coverage on the website will also grow.
Topsail High School sophomore Zachary Gaither like other youth athletes started at a young age with their interest in sports. Zachary youth sports history was much different, he participated in multiple youth sports, as well as Boys Scouts and very active with youth church activities.
Zachary started football in the Pop Warner Youth Football League. Middle School Football- Surf City Middle School Sharks and is currently a sophomore with the Topsail Pirates football program. Zachary also a member of the Captains Council (Topsail Pirate Football)

- Soccer- Port City Soccer Association
- Martial Arts- Hap Ki Do- Cape Fear Martial Arts Academy
Wresting- Currently preparing for his junior season with Topsail High School Wrestlingp> Zachary also very active in BSA (Boy Scouts America). Gaither achieved the honor or EAGLE SCOUT at the age of 14. BSA National Youth Leadership- with over 70 hours of community service.
As a student athlete Zachary is getting it done in the classroom with a 4.00 GPA and induction to the National Junior Honor Society at Surf City Middle School.
Zachary Gaither currently has a 4.25 GPA at Topsail High School
Zachary is accomplished, well rounded and example of what a “Student Athlete” should be.
