Topsail Lady Pirates Lacrosse – Riley Née – Rising Senior-Completes Junior Season as a State and National Stats Leader
The 2022 Topsail Lady Pirates Lacrosse team-19-2 overall record- 14- 0 undefeated- Mideastern 3A/4A Conference Champions advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA State Lacrosse Championships. The Lady Pirates with an experienced and talented roster used a team effort on way to a very successful season.
Rising senior Riley Née, like many high school student athletes began their journey at a very young age. Riley grew up in Port Jefferson Long Island. She started playing lacrosse in Pre-K in the backyard with her two older sisters who also played lacrosse. Riley got started in Lacrosse Clinics with Comsewogue Youth Lacrosse league. She played with the league K-6 Grade. In the fifth grade Riley started tournament lacrosse with the Long Island Yellow Jackets.
In 2018, eighth grade to present, Riley has been with the Team 91 Carolina tournament team. She began her high school career in 2020 as a freshman with the Lady Pirates being selected to the varsity team.
- 2021 – Sophomore season-selected Varsity team Captain- First Team All-Conference
- 2022 – Junior Season-Varsity Team Captain- Stats 105 assist and 25 Goals for 130 points.
The 105 assist in the 2022 season (Max Preps) Stat Leaders- Number 1- North Carolina as well as number one in the nation.
Riley has verbally committed to Stetson University to continue her education and Lacrosse career after high school.
Née also excels in the classroom as a student athlete with a 4.3 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. Riley is dual enrolled and takes classes at Cape Fear Community College. She plans to major in Business at Stetson University.
Away from Lacrosse, Riley enjoys going to the beach, boating, bible study with friends and spending time with family.
