Topsail Softball.. .. Addie Macdougall.. Ready For Sophomore Season.. With Lady Pirates

The high school spring sports season is underway, with regular season games beginning in a couple weeks. As you look at the upcoming season team rosters you will find familiar names. Yes, that high school student athlete is one you remember from several years ago in the youth leagues. A few years ago while covering the Topsail Girls Softball and the District Tournament at Kiwanis Park in Hampstead, I remember while standing by the Topsail Dugout, a player from the team introduced herself to me. I was impressed with this kids personality and while focused on the game, she was having fun. That player, Addie Macdougall is now a sophomore for the Topsail Lady Pirates softball program.

Macdougall continued playing her favorite sport as a player with Topsail Middle School softball. In the summer and offseason Addie improved her game playing travel ball with Cape Fear Elite Softball and the East Coast Bandits.

Like many, youth league and middle school softball players, they work to improve their game with hopes of playing high school softball. Addie reached that goal, as a freshman for the Topsail Lady Pirates softball team.  The Lady Pirates continued their success on the field. Topsail finished 14-3 overall and 12-2 in the Mideastern 3A/4A conference. Topsail advanced to the third round of the NCHSAA 3A State Playoffs.

Addie and the Lady Pirates will have a preseason tournament scrimmage this Saturday at Kinston NC. Topsail will officially open the season Monday February 26 at Dixon Lady Bulldogs.
