The transformation for a high school athlete to college and athletics, the adjustments in just about every phase of life are far reaching. While most high school student athletes moving to the next level for education and athletics are accustomed to busy life schedules with preparing for college academically with college prep courses required for college admission and maximizing any academic scholarship funds. On the Athletics side, it’s a focus of your senior season and helping your team in the hopes of winning a State Championship. Most athletes moving to the next level have closed out their travel ball and showcase play as they prepare for their freshman college season.

The next level, to continue the student’s education and athletic career in college comes with challenges that are only overcome by commitment, discipline, and the will to adjust to a new lifestyle. On the softball field as a freshman, accepting your role on the team and realizing playing time may be limited as you are competing with upperclassman.

Topsail and Pender High 2021 Graduates, Emma Neeley and Kaitlyn Beaver closed out their freshman seasons with the Methodist University, Lady Monarchs softball program. Emma and Kaitlyn adjusted and overcome the challenges, as students in the classroom and on the field for the Lady Monarch softball team.

Lady Monarch teammates, Neeley and Beaver experienced team success with Methodist making a impressive run in the USA South Softball Conference tournament.
