Topsail Lady Pirate Basketball Program..Focus on Team..Family..and Community.”A Winning Combination”

The  Topsail Lady Pirate basketball programs..success on the basketball has brought excitement to Topsail High School and the community. Topsail continued that success with 76-73 victory over New Hanover Lady Wildcats. Topsail improves to (9-2) overall and (2-1)  3A/4A Mideastern Conference.

Yes, there were  ..Leading scorers and stat leaders in the game.. with New Hanover as the Lady Pirates rallied back from a 11 point halftime deficit to win the game. With that said, this article is not about individuals and their game stats. The game was won with a “Team Effort” by the Lady Pirates.

Topsail Lady Pirate, Head Coach Ingar  Sidbury..post game comments ..Led with pointing out the “Team effort” and why it’s a key to the programs success.

“This was a great TEAM win.” Said Coach Sidbury  “It wasn’t because of any one player or coach.  It was about all of us- it took all 14 girls to get this win.”

“Yes, we had some outstanding scorers but they can’t score if no one passes them the ball.  We can’t score if we don’t get the key rebounds.”.

Sidbury added, “Our defenders never quit.”

“ It took everyone- from the kids on the court, to the players on the bench being ready to step in, to the coaches watching stats and time outs, to the parents cheering in the stands, to the principal cheering us on and to the little kids from our camp today that came to support us.”

“This is a FAMILY- the kids, coaches, parents, school and community- all working together.”

 “ONE PROGRAM”…”ONE TEAM”..”ONE    FAMILY”
